Well, nofollow and dofollow both are helpful for building backlinks to a web site as google wants only natural links so we should use both for natural link I would say.

Will not say all those technical things that respected board members have already said but what I feel is Do-Follow links are good for human traffic and SEO traffic and on the other side, No-Follow links are only good for Human Traffic which is still the best traffic you can have.

Agree with you, both are used for getting natural links but Dofollow are followed by the search engines and search engines gives more priority to these link while Nofollow are indexed as well follow by the search engines but not gives the priority in a site health.

Both should be consider but do follow links are more preferable.
