Rss Feeds for Backlinks?

I want to distribute my website content and in turn, generate backlinks to my site using rss feeds.
My question is: is there a difference for backlink value (or getting a backlink at all) in creating an rss feed from a site like Feedburner (or other sites like this) or generating an rss feed on my own and uploading it to my own server?
I am also wondering if creating an rss feed from a site like Feedburner would be like submitting an article to a directory in that they house the content so they get the value from the content created not me. Would I be better off uploading the feeds to my site and hosting them there or does it not really matter?

I am actually not sure concerning feedburner usage :(

Another use for RSS feeds:

I know that many create RSS feeds to get their backlinks indexed. I.e. they create RSS feed file containing URLs or pages that link to their site. Then they submit that to lots of different RSS feed directories etc. which just eat through and in various ways post the URLs. (I personally have not used this method, but I imagine it could help getting links from e.g. directories etc. quickly indexed)
