Hi, This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on.
Basically, Panda updates are designed to target pages that aren't necessarily spam but aren't great quality. This was the first ever penalty that went after "thin content," and the sites that were hit hardest by the first Panda update were content farms (hence why it was originally called the Farmer update), where users could publish dozens of low-quality, keyword stuffed articles that offered little to no real value for the reader. Many publishers would submit the same article to a bunch of these content farms just to get extra links.
Panda is a site wide penalty, which means that if "enough" (no specific number) pages of your site were flagged for having thin content, your entire site could be penalized. Panda was also intended to stop scrappers (sites that would republish other company's content) from outranking the original author's content. Penguin also works like this. But If we have a site with good content and doing proper SEO to get the rank in search engines, our site would not get effected from these updates of Google. I do business online by doing SEO for my site with www.tucktail.com and got a consistent and long lasting rank on google. Thanks

Yes, of course, these techniques are developed to reduce ranking of low quality sites and it would help those sites which are quality sites.

Hello..
Panda and penguin are two algos of Google,Panda update is about Content(should be unique, genuine, interesting, should not be copied etc). Penguin update is about link building tactics(should be form relevant sites.Vary anchor text,Should not be from low quality sites, too many exact keywords should not point to same url.)
Thnx..:)

Google Panda lowers down overall ranking of low quality sites.On-site SEO optimization becomes important. The quality of a post is taken as a prime factor for ranking.
The idea underlying the penguin update was simple enough- penalize and decrease the rankings of sites that breach Google's Webmaster Guidelines set the by the search engine.

Google Panda and Penguin, both are most respected algorithms of Google. Google Panda works to decrease spam content level while Penguin penalize low quality link building in Search Engine. It really helpful to improve Google facilities.
