So my friends we know much about SEOing these days but there are some reoccurring things that I see that come up here that I have opinions on but do not know the answers to (in no particular order). Thus I would like to ask those of you out there for what you think.... Also please add your own UNKNOWNS....

1) Penalties

a. Does the BLOOP penalty really exist? This is often talked about but I have never seen any real convincing argument that this penalty does exist. Even if there is an effect others argue it is just a filter at most. I have never heard anyone quote an official source re this specific penalty.

b. Do the – 30,90 etc penalties really exist? Once again I have not seen convincing evidence that a specific minus something penalty exists. When people have shown me 'their evidence' on investigation I have found that their rankings do not conform to specific minus something penalties. A general devaluation of juice would seem just as likely explanation.

2) Reconsideration requests – Google stated in the JC Penny case the penalty they gave expired after 90 days. Is this a standard thing. ie do many people when they get a penalty and 'fix things up' and file a reconsideration request and see the penalty removed actually simply see the time limit of the penalty expire. Ie rankings would have returned without the 'fix'. Does anyone have any evidence of penalties just expiring even if they do nothing?

3) Relevance

a. How does Google determine the different relevance's? How much is it influenced by onpage and off page factors?

b. Which factors are the most influential in determining Geo relevance? What is the best way to make a site geo relevant to different markets? How much can Geo relevance simply be counted by overall site strength?

c. What portion/weighting of relevance classifications is site/page/word wide?

d. How often does Google reclassify a website/pages overall relevance classifications?

e. Is there any evidence that words near a link have any bearing on the relevance that the link brings a site?

4) Link Juice

a. To what extent does 'raw' juice help as compared to 'relevant' juice?

b. How much correlation does visible PR have to the benefit of juice a link brings

c. How much is 'trust' a sitewide thing as compared to a page wide thing?

d. Is the transfer of trust affected by the relevance of the link?

e. Do nofollow links bring any type of juice at all?

f. Does the amount of juice a link brings increase over time in anyway?

g. Is there any evidence that a reciprocated link brings less juice then a non reciprocated link?

5) User Behavior

a. How much (if any) does user behavior influence rankings?

b. Is the user behavior effects on rankings limited to particular types of search ie those that use the QDF filter?

c. If user behavior data is influencing rankings how does a person take advantage of data to manipulate search results?

6) Social media

a. How is social media/applications influencing SERPs?

b. Is it possible to manipulate this stuff to improve rankings?

c. Does people bookmarking your site help rankings directly?

d. Does the Google +1 button have any influence on organic search?

7) Conversions

a. Which onpage/usability factors have the biggest effect on conversions?

b. Are there really some simple rules that can be implemented to increase the average rate of conversions?

c. To what extent is it true that long tails convert better then generalized search returns ie quantity versus quality in terms of overall income?

8) Myths

a. Which of the common myths actually have some validity in them?

b. Why do so many silly myths still exist?
