Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines. But you have to inform the search engines what your site and how many pages your site have. For that search engine like Google has a sitemap program that help webmaster let to know the search engine about the site. So, search engine crawl the web and find the link of the your site or web page form its own sources or from other sources (in the form of backlink) and then after finishing crawling the web it index your site in its main database. This process is known website indexing

you can create your site's sitemap.xml file and submit it to Google webmaster if you your prefer search engine is Google.

hi.
Indexing means when Google visits your site to add your site in a SERP. If you want that Google should index your page sooner then you can do social bookmarking.

Search engines have extremely large indexes which hold a copy of all of the webpages they have crawled and chosen to add to their index. The search engine spider crawls through the web, following links, and when it finds a page to add, it will make a copy of it, and add it to its index. When this has happened to your site, you can consider it as having been "indexed". To check your site indexing go to the Google and in the search box type site: yoursite.com. This will give you a list of your website pages that are in the index. If there are no results, the indexing has not happened yet. You can also do this same search at MSN and Yahoo.

Search engine spider crawl your site and store your site in their database. Using the query “site: Your website”   you can know how many your pages indexed by Google or any search engine. Creating site map and submitting it to webmaster tool would also increase quick indexing. You can add HTML site map page as well where you list all your pages which are live.

Just creating a website is not enough if you want to get organic traffic to your website then you have to get your side index first and for indexing your website you have to do search engine optimization for that website. Their are many off page optimization technique to get index your website, but the best way to get your website indexed is by posting your website in top social bookmarking websites and some top news website where Google boot loves to crawl because of new content coming up every time.

whenever search Engines come on your website, which ever page they crawl, they take a copy of that page with them and save it on their server. This process done by the search engine is called site Indexing.

Indexing is the process of adding webpages into Google search. Depending upon which meta tag you used, Google will crawl and index your pages.
