August 23, 2018, 02:06:37 AM

A XML sitemap protocol is specifically intended for search engine spiders. At its root, XML is a file that includes all the behind the scenes activity on a web site.
This can include when the URL was last updated, how important it is, the average frequency changes occur, the URLs relation to the rest of the site, etc.

HTML is just a general overview of the site, just the pages and info a user needs to be concerned with. If you're on a web site and you're looking for the shopping cart or the 'Contact Us' page and can't find it, you'd go to the sitemap and easily find it there.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a marketing strategy that allows search engines to find and rank your site in their search results. Sitemaps are a way for your site to communicate with search engines such as Google, MSN or Yahoo.

The importance of a sitemap goes hand in hand with the importance of SEO. SEO is essential to generating website traffic and revenue. On the other hand, sitemaps are essential to getting those search engine "spiders" to search, index and rank the content of your site.

Text to Code ratio is the percentage of a web page that is actual, text content. It is believed that search engines 'like' sites that have a high text to code ratio, which would help your SEO. There is no official definition of what a text-to-code ratio is.

This tool works by doing it's best to remove all html tags, javascript and all other non-content data from your html. Then it takes the size of what's left, and divides that by the size of the whole page.
