Domain Age is very important a factor.  In general, It is easier to rank for a keyword on an older domain name than a newer domain name if all things being equal.  However,  great content and the ability to generate inbound links and etc will win in the long run.  Remember, Google's focus is to show the most relevant results to the user. A factor of this may take into account that if a website is brand new (a month or so) it may not be as "credible" as a site that has been for a few years. Take a look at what Matt Cutts says from awhile ago (should still be applicable).

YES.  Domain age DOES matter.  But the reason that domain age matters is NOT simply because the domain is young, but rather that it would be unnatural for any new domain to have a reasonable quantity of quality backlinks needed to rank in a competitive search.

In all reality, it is all about the amount of time in which Google first indexed, or sighted a link to said "aged" domain. An Aged domain has been indexed by Google for say 5+ years. You'll notice that the highest ranking sites have been around for a long time. For example, Amazon, Apple, Apartments.com, etc.

The short answer to the question is yes, domain age is an important SEO factor for your Google ranking. Among the hundreds of weighting factors that Google considers in determining how to rank search engine results is the age of your domain.

Domain Age isn't the only factor that matters in the Ranking. there are many others. So it's better to focus on the rest because we can't do anything in the age of the domain.
