Due to content freshness, Google shows your website at non related keywords search.

You have to work on relevant keywords so that you website can be indexed on top search results of Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines. You also have to maintain quality content so that number of visitors may increase on your website

I think he might be updating content regularly and creating backlinks from High Pr sites on keywords he putted. Social media also helps upto some extent in increasing ranking.
