Hi everyone. I would like to discuss and get your valuable opinion on the topic keywords . According to me, Keywords can be classified into single word or a long tail keyword. I usually classify keywords under these two categories. Apart from these, Is there any other types to classify the keywords? Kindly share your thought here

Keyword can be classified into three categories :
-Single word Keyword
-Multiple word Keyword
-Keywords based on Theme

Keyword will be classified in the three category like Single word Keyword, Multiple word Keyword and Keywords based on Theme. Single keyword used for the target the large traffic, multiple keyword used for the specific traffic and Keywords based on Theme is used to focus on a specific topic correlated to a targeted topic.

There is one more category called "Keywords Based on Theme", Keywords on your theme are used to target a highly targeted audience which leads to high sales, top rank in SERP as well as high page rank. Keywords based on Theme are used in each page of web site to focus on a specific topic correlated to a targeted topic or idea (theme). Keywords based on Theme effectively contribute in growth of informative pages for its site focusing on different related topics.

single word keywords are difficult to bring in the ranking, while long tail keywords can easily be bring in top rankings.

1. Keyword of Single word
Keyword of Single word is used to target a large traffic but leads to highly competition category of sites.

Keyword of Multiple words is used to target a specific traffic, which leads to high sale, top position in search result listing as well as improves page rank competition.

3. Keywords based on Theme
Keyword based on Theme are used to target a highly targeted audience, which leads to quick high sale, top position in search result listing as well as boosts page rank.

On the basis of importance, you can divide keywords into two - Primary and secondary.
For instance, if you are dealing in Canon power shot digital camera 2MP, Digital camerais your primary keyword, while Canon power shot digital camera 2MP is secondary.

On the basis of purpose, keywords can be divided into:
- Keywords for Adsense
- Keywords for PPC
- Keywords for Affiliate marketing
- Keywords for Store promotion
- Keywords for Local business

You may also categorize keywords as:
- Singular keywords
- Plural keywords -
- Short-tail keywords
- Long-tail keywords

Thorough keyword research is quite a time-consuming process...I use a tool called 'Keyword Country' to find geographically active keyword lists with ease. It works for me...

As per my view there are only two types of keywords that is short tail keywords and long tail keywords.

But when we go in deep analysis, there are lots of categories like:
- Broad match: Such keywords shows similar phrases and relevant variations.
- Phrase match : Such keywords allows searches that match the exact phrase.
- Exact match : These allows the searches that match the exact phrase exclusively.
- Negative match : These shows those searches that doesn't contain the term.
- Theme match : Such keywords shows the results relevant to the category/theme of the website.
- Consumer type : Shows the best suit short and long term phrases.

and many more.
