What is SEO in layman's terms..?

SEO is an acronym that stands for search engine optimization, which is the process of optimizing your website to get organic, or un-paid, traffic from the search engine results page.

When we search for a query we often get millions of results in few milli-seconds. But we click at the top results on the first page and rarely move to other pages.

The quest of bringing a website to the first page of search result for any particular query to get more clicks from the searching audiences is called SEO.

Marketers target most searched keywords and write a brief answer around those queries which ultimately gives them audience. This consists of three steps:

#1. Finding a highly searched query (Keyword research)

#2. Writing a better post than already ranking posts for the same keyword.

#3. Optimizing so that search engine software can understand the value of your content and flash it at a better position in front of search audience.

If you can do these three things in a better way, you are no more a layman.

SEO is the process of putting the right words (called keywords) in the right places so search engines know what your site is about. ... Some SEO companies are very good at what they do, while others take advantage of a layman's lack of knowledge. Before hiring any SEO company be sure to do your research.
