Hello,

The documentation and videos aren't really helping. All I want to do is scan all the pages of a website for a file name like: Ico5.gif and see the pages it's on.

Please help if you can.

Hi Brian,

Scan the website.

After scan in "Analyze website" (auto opens when scan has finished)

• Select the URL in question.
• View "Extended data" for it. 
• Click the two sub tabs "Linked by" and "Used by"

As far as I can tell, this didn't do anything.

I want to search the html of every page of the website and find every instance for a specific string like: 4560a.gif so that I may find and edit the page to remove it from the html or add and alt tag to it.

I need every single step because I've never used a tool like this before.

If I undersand you correctly, you are looking for all palces tthat use or link to the image file - correct?

If you want to search for a strings or text patterns on all pages, that is possible too of couse:

However, if I understand your requirements correctly, there is no need to look ino hat tfor you at present.

I guess I will have to revise the steps to make it clear:

In Scan website you need to scan the domain, e.g. http://example.com.

When scan has finished, you will be taken to Analyze website

Here you find and select the image URL, in your case e.g. http://example.com/4560a.gif

To the right click Extended data for it.  Then click the two sub tabs Linked by and Used by.


Unless tthe website is special somehow, above is all you need.One special scenarious could be if your website only uses Javascript to reference the image file. If so, you will need to tick an option for that in scan website | crawler options, so A1WA searches through Javascript as well.


If you still have problems, please post or email the exact website and image URLs

Can you tell me how I would just search the site hTMl pages for all the images missing alt tags? Would that make it easier?

Run standard scan of your domain. (Most things are included in the default settings for websie scans.)

I'm not getting the same results that your example is showing. There is no "with alt attribute" as you're showing in your results with the SAME, EXACT settings. See screen cap below.



Please advise why there is a difference between what I'm seeing in the UI vs. what your screen cap shows.

As far as I can see, you have not activated the filter in your screenshot. The button to the right of the dropdown needs to be in "pressed" state for the selected quick filter options to be active.

Doing so should result (to the left) in a list of images where not all uses/links (a/img) have anchor/alt text.
