I basically, use this command in the google search.
cache:www.example.com where www.example.com is your website URL.
Google will show total number of back links and from where are you getting links?
you can also use this tools: http://www.backlinkwatch.com
Of course, backlinkwatch.com is really too helpful for checking backlinks of any web page as well.
backlinkwatch is great no doubt about it, but if you want find accurate backlinks you have to use Google Webmaster it gives perfect results.

I mostly use back link watcher for cheking the back links of any web site.
We can check back-link through SEO tool and through google also. Basically we use command or key phrase to search back-link on google such as e.g. "link: http://www.xyz.com"
You can check it on ahref.com and backlinkwatch.com both are good and tell us accurate result but i always prefer ahref.com that is best.
if you have added Google analytic code in your website then you can check backlink in your Google analytic account.
I use to check with seomastering.com sites it gives entire information about our site that how many backlinks we having currently and whether our site is categorized in dmoz and whether it is trustable or not and our PR etc., Online tools are works in a better way since window based tools also working in effective way to analyze our site in a better way.
