Is there any tool or metric to know how important is that backlink.

Hi,
I think there is no such tool to measure how important a backlink. Google gives equal importance for each backlink of your site. If the backlink is do-follow then google gives +1 value for that link.

There are lots of backlinks checker tools but such one that let you know the importance of the backlink is i think not exist but yes you can estimate the backlink importance by manually checking. Many expert say that if you get backlink from high PR and relevant site, it will help your site by passing more link juice. So, try to get more backlinks from quality and high PR sites.

There are no predefined metrics as such.

What can be done is to manually check whether the backlinks come from websites that have authority, are niche related and not blacklisted by Google.

Today quality plays an important role for search engine ranking so just generating back links is not enough you have to get quality and trusted links for linking your website. Even if you are generating too much of links it is not going to help you to get high SERPs you have to get links which are valued by Google and getting such links is not so easy you have to spend more time on search and check the quality of link website by using different tools, even three to four links can bring your keyword on top position of Google.
