Title: Using forums for SEO?
Post by: jeffshawn on November 15, 2011, 09:21:15 AM
Hello - thanks in advance for your help!

How can I use forums for SEO and/or building inbound links?

What kind of forums should I be posting in? And am I supposed to include my website in my signature when I post?

Thanks for your help.

Since its quite daunting to find dofollow forums, you may go for nofollow as well (dofollow will remain a priority ofcourse).

Although I prefer a tool Keyword Country to help me dig niche related dofollow forums easily.

Posting quality answers in nofollow forums will add to your credibility and give you referral traffic which is equally important as SERP's.

Describe your images with the use of the alt tag. This will help search engines that index images to find your pages and will also help readers who use text only web browsers.

Some webmasters and moderators choose to remove and restrict such advertising efforts. You will need to put your point across in an unhurried and logical manner, such that your product or service is seen as meeting a need that is particularly relevant to that discussion thread or problem.

The most common link building techniques using forums are to create a profile page and a signature link. Signature links allow links to be created at the bottom of posts or comments you leave in a forum. Signature links are at best very low quality and although they may send you some traffic are unlikely to have any long lasting impact on the pages you link to. This is because these links are not merit based, as is the case with all link spam methods, and it's accepted the search engines are getting better at ignoring these links and assigning them no value.
