Link farming is to increase the number of sites link to yours because search engines like Google rank sites based on, among other things, the quality and quantity of sites that offer link to yours. In theory, the more sites link to yours, the higher your ranking in search results because the links will indicate a greater level of popularity among Internet users. However, search engines such as Google consider link farming as a form of spam and has procedures in place to ban sites that participate in link farming, so the long-term relationship agriculture acquired a negative connotation through Internet.

In my opinion a link farm is a website set up with the sole purpose of increasing the link popularity of other sites by increasing the number of incoming links to those sites. They are typically made up of long lists of unrelated links. Search engines remove link farms from their directories when they find them. And many also penalize other sites that link to them.

Nearly all search engines remove link farms from their directories when they find them. And many also penalize other sites that link to them. It is not a good idea to link to a link farm if you rely at all on organic search for pageviews.

Hello :)
According to me, Link farm is any group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group. Although some link farms can be created by hand, most are created through automated programs and services. A link farm is a form of spamming the index of a search engine (sometimes called spamdexing or spamexing). Other link exchange systems are designed to allow individual websites to selectively exchange links with other relevant websites and are not considered a form of spamdexing...

This strategy worked for some time, but soon search engines caught on. "Link Farms" and FFA sites served no purpose to web users. While this is great for them, it is not so great for the search engines. And this is precisely why search engines ban or penalize sites that have link farms.

Link Farms are websites which are created with the sole purpose of exchanging links with other websites which are looking for increasing the number of inbound links to their site. As Search engines consider number of links to your site as an indicator of popularity of your site, websites try to increase the inbound links and sometimes take help of link farms. Please note your site can be penalized if the search engines find out you are indulging in link farming.
