Hello, I'm part of a group of people putting together a new website.  We have been working on it for over a year and it is being built by a contracter.  Its essentially a trading website competing with eBay, Gumtree etc.  We are under no illusions of the size of the task that we face in taking on such monsters, but we believe that we have a website and a pre launch strategy which could enable us to go viral before we even launch.  The big problem I have is that we have nobody on the team with any real techincal knowledge on how to make sure the site can cope with a huge escalation of users should the site take off as we hope, and I'm not sure what the first step is to addressing these concerns.  If the strategy works we could have 50,000 people trying to sign in simultaneously when the site goes live and up to 250,000 trying to upload maybe 5 million pictures in the space of a week.  Where do we start - any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

It might not be an easier to compete with websites like Ebay, Amazone the main thing behind the success of those websites is the trust of those websites. People used to trust and buy products displayed on those websites. But still if you want to go viral, you should think of targeting long phrase keywords which are easy to compete and ger rank for. Targeting those keywords in millions quantity would make your work easier.

IN pre launch strategy, you can use some of the viral techniques by using most common subjects like making money online, weight loss, Forex trading. pay day loan these are the very common subjects people looking for. You can start email marketing and distribute the content relevant to these topics. Initially you can start sign up campaign through email marketing.
