Title: Dedicated Server - An Intorduction
Post by: John23 on December 08, 2010, 07:07:07 AM
A dedicated server is a single computer in a network reserved for serving the needs of the network. For example, some networks require that one computer be set aside to manage communications between all the other computers. A dedicated server could also be a computer that manages printer resources. Note, however, that not all servers are dedicated. In some networks, it is possible for a computer to act as a server and perform other functions as well.

A dedicated server is costly. A dedicated server is required to store large databases for huge websites. Otherwise, most of the websites use shared server on which data sharing is done between several websites. But with dedicated server no sharing is done and the whole computer resource works for just one website.

If we talk about a network then a dedicated server takes care of the needs of the other computers connected to the network.

A dedicated server may be a single net server or pc on the net that hosts websites and shows pages as viewers request. A passionate server is among a network of computers, completely dedicated to at least one fashion designer or an oversized business, since it will meet several desires.

You can expect good reliability with dedicated servers. You will not go under any risk of the server being slowed down, swamped with traffic, or crashed by another site on a shared server. You get good uptime of your site.. Chance of being in under loss is very less.

A server that is hosted by a company and only allows one company to lease and access it is called a dedicated server. It is "dedicated" to the one client and is not shared with any other clients. Dedicated servers usually allow the client to choose what operating system is installed on it and what type of hardware. In some cases, as an add-on service, the hosting company will provide administration services for the client, freeing the client from having to worry about it.

In more simpler explanations, your website / applications gain all the resources on a servers in the sense of processor speed, RAM, bandwidth and many more. Dedicated hosting plan suitable for you if your website handling massive of traffics simultaneously / require large amount of server resources for displaying your website to your audience.

Dedicated servers are higher than average performance computers and more often used as massive hosting facility for web hosting services needing large amounts of data space and bandwidth, but also as a solution for other kind of companies or individuals with special needs requiring full control over every aspect of their own hosted files without the limitations or the overload slow down performance of a shared virtual hosting provider where a website is hosted on a server with hundreds or even thousands of other websites on it.
