Colocation is a type of web hosting, where you can store you server at a Data Center. The server is owned by the customer but they then hire rack space where they store the server.
ADVANTAGES:
Cheaper
Your server can be stored in a secure location
You can have full control over your server
You can can easily upgrade when necessary
You can have a high amount of flexibility
DISADVANTAGES:
Expensive when compared to basic hosting
The cost may change every month, depending on the bandwidth you have used.
Need some expertise as you are responsible for the maintenance of your server
Need to purchase your own equipment
You need to purchase any updates yourself
