Hi guys,

Are Google Crawling and Google Indexing the same thing? Many out there are bombarding that Google crawl my site of web page but i want to know that if both are different then which is more important.

Jessica

Hi,
First of all, crawling and indexing are different terms with different meanings.
Crawling takes place when there is a successful fetching of unique URLs which can be traced from valid links from other web pages. It's the search engine robots that follow the links.
Indexing takes place after crawled URLs are processed. Note that there may be several URLs that are crawled but there could be fewer of them whose content will be processed through indexing.

NO, they are two different terms.

Here's how,
Spider visits your web-pages - Crawling
Spider puts/ stores your web-pages in its database (after crawling) - Indexing

I can't tag one as important since both go hand in hand.

hi.
They both are different, in crawling unique URL'S are fetched and after this process indexing is done in which all the selected URL'S are put in the database.

Hi. Both are different crawling id the first process in which unique URL's are fetched and indexing is done after crawling which put the selected URL in the database.
