Google+1s affect SERPs but NOT PR.

Simply put, Google+1's are similar to Facebook buttons, they vouch for the credibility of a web page. Hence, more the number of +1's, more the popularity and hence high probability of coming in SERPs. PR entirely depends on quality backlinks pointing to your site, +1s don't really matter here...

Google's side to maybe inflate the effect of +1's at this stage to get more people to use them (and lure more people into Google's social workings) and whether or not Google will decrease their significance later on - but hey, it's our everyday reality, the algo changes continuously, we work with what works now and hope it would be meaningful enough to help us in the future.

Google+ is just another social networking site like Facebook or Twitter. It is true that social networking site does not help in improving the page rank but they helps in traffic. But ya, you can create business page and there are a lot of advanced features.....

This is a Google product then must have worth and Google gives more priority to its services and those sites which will use this.

I do not understand why you need a Google +, if it does not interfere with the PR. Especially since I do not use Google +
