Two weeks ago, my Joomla e-commerce site which was getting a regularly improving amount of organic traffic, just lost all traffic from Google. Terms which I was previously in pos.1 for I've now dropped back to page 3. An extra layer of security has been added to my admin system around the same time, but I can't see that this would cause the problem. could that possibly hinder Google's Bots? Traffic from other SE's remains the same. Can anyone help?

It's hard to say. Have you lost some back links? Changed titles? Had website problems?

There is one more reason and that is penalization. If site gets penalized there is a chance that there will be change in SERP.

I'll definitely be updating the blog with any news on the outcome.

Traffic is the important thing to consider if you have a online business or just a own site. This will determine the popularity of your site and in order to get tons of traffic, you need to do some effective marketing like social media marketing.

It seems you are a victim of last Google Panda update. Google may label your website as content farm and reduced traffic to it. Just analyze your articles and ensure that only quality articles in your website.

Your site does have symptoms of a links-related penalty.  It's very difficult to sort out which of the many links on your site that may be a problem, but it undoubtedly lies somewhere between all of the affiliate ads and "sponsors" links

Sorry to hear you've lost page rank. It happened to one of my websites 4 years ago and i lost thousands of dollars. I suggest you to check the database for duplicated URLs and to check every detail on the website. You probably need to take your time and to come up with a new SEO plan.

Determine what kind of traffic failure you're dealing-with. Most people seem at Google's impression page, see a loss of generally traffic to site, and suppose that they have to have lost ranking in Google and the besieged traffic that come-up to with it.

I think this happens due to loss in SERP. First of all tell me that what is your website SERP and which type of keyword you are using for promoting your website. There are two keywords first one is low popular and second one is high popular. If you are using low popularity keyword then in this you can get good traffic from google even after high SERP.
