Title: anaphylaxis and allergies
Post by: boltnuts on March 03, 2011, 06:13:17 AM
In severe cases anaphylaxis can occur and this requires immediate medical attention. It is a combination of other allergic symptoms that appear rapidly and are potentially life-threatening. It can induce shock; one sign of shock is that organs don't get enough blood, and therefore oxygen and nutrients, due to very low blood pressure. The person may appear red or pale, sweaty or dry, confused, anxious or they may be unconscious. The person also has difficulty breathing. Anaphylactic shock is caused by sudden dilation or widening of many, or several large, blood vessels brought on by the action of chemical mediators. A sudden drop in blood pressure can lead to unconsciousness, cardiac arrest or death.
At the moment there is a theory called the hygiene hypothesis which has been "extensively investigated by immunologists and epidemiologists". It involves the idea that people who live in too sterile environments are not exposed to enough pathogens to keep their immune system busy so it over-reacts to normally harmless substances. There is some evidence to show that allergic diseases are more common in industrialised countries or urban areas rather than more traditional agricultural countries or rural areas. Also, using antibiotics to treat babies under 1 year old has been linked to an increase in asthma and other allergies, as has the use of antibacterial cleaning products.

A persons immune system tends to react in 2 ways when he/she has food allergy. The body may or may not respond to the use of mast cells. The mast cells can be found in any part of the body but it is most likely to be found in eyes, skin, lungs, and throat and especially in the areas of gastrointestinal system. The other kind of response is by the releasing of immunoglobulin E by the body. These antibodies travel across the blood system. Then it causes the discharge of the chemical histamine which in turn causes the allergic reactions to activate in the body parts that were mentioned above.

One should know the symptoms of allergy to respond quickly and effectively when allergic reactions take place. Anaphylaxis is a severe, whole-body allergic reaction to a chemical that has become an allergen. Allergy facts include the common allergies that are often found in individuals.

Anaphylaxis is the word used for serious and rapid allergic reactions usually involving more than one part of the body which, if severe enough, can kill.

There are many types of skin allergies and to get rid of it, its important to know the actual cause of it, such as food or dust. In my opinion, once you are aware of the main cause of allergies you can easily deal with it.

Anaphylaxis and allergy caused by food are related closely. They do have their differences and their own definitions. It is common for ambulance personnel, urgent cares and hospital emergency rooms to see patients having allergic reactions.

Anaphylaxis is a serious, potentially life-threatening allergic response that is marked by swelling, hives, lowered blood pressure, and dilated blood vessels. In severe cases, a person will go into shock.

Anaphylaxis involves the reaction, like in allergy caused by food, of different body parts. Anaphylactic symptoms may be mild with only itching, or severe in combination with difficulty breathing, hives, and other symptoms.
