Choosing keywords is most time consuming  and difficult task.You should be very careful while choosing keywords because overall rank depends on your keywords.There are some tips on basis of that you can choose keywords in SEO:-
1)Company based:- On basis of company's product you can choose keywords.
2)Geographic basis-You can choose location based keywords.
3)Market Trends:- Currently what is the trend of market today you can choose your keywords on the basis of that.
4)Competition based:- You can choose keywords on basis of competition.Look your competitors and can see their keywords and choose keywords on this base.
I use Google adword tool for choosing keyword.I choose long tail keywords and which are of low competition and are of high global and local search...
