- If a keyword appears at the beginning of an area, its prominence will be 100%.
- If a keyword appears in the middle of an area, its prominence will be around 50%.
- If the keyword appears at the beginning of the area, then another repetition appears at the end of the area, the prominence would be 50%.
- If the keyword appears at the end of the area, prominence would be 0%.
- If the area consists of multiple parts (like having 3 heading tags on the page) then all three areas are treated as a single contiguous area when prominence is calculated.

Keyword prominence can be analyzed by a key phrase usage in:

    * the title of a page;
    * meta description;
    * H1 and H2 tags;
    * Alt tags;
    * Anchor text of both internal and external links;
    * Bold and italic text;
    * beginning of the body text;
    * overall text.

Keyword prominence is placing your keywords close to the beginning of sentences and paragraphs. As with adding your keywords often but retaining the readability of your content, basically placing your keywords at the beginning of your content won't work. Your keyword prominence must slot in your content making sense to the reader and basically flow with the remainder of the containing content.

The term Keyword Prominence stands for the most prominent placement of the keywords or key phrases in a web page for search engine optimization reasons. In other words, it is the placement of the keywords at those positions which are the most eye-catchy for the search engine spiders. Opening paragraph, beginning of a sentence, Meta tags, and page header are considered as the most prominent places for the placement of the keywords.
