SEO, or search engine optimization, is about creating content, optimizing it, and promoting it. It is commonly accepted that this process is composed of two parts, SEO on-page and SEO off-page.

The difference between the two can be summed up as follows:  SEO on-page is the information that your site sends to search engines , while  SEO off-page is the information that is sent to search engines by other websites.

On-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals." It takes into account all aspects of the webpage that, when added together, will improve your rankings in the search results.
