The title tag has been – and probably will always be – one of the most important factors in achieving high search engine rankings. In fact, employed just the title tags of your pages can often generate quick and appreciable differences to your rankings. And because the words in the title tag are what appear in the clickable link on the search engine results page (SERP), changing them may result in more clickthrough.

Hello...
A title tag is the main text that describes an online document. It is the single most important on-page SEO element and appears in three key places:
1)Browser
2)Search Result Pages
3)External Websites

Using keywords in title tags means that search engines will "bold" (or highlight) those terms in the search results when a user has performed a query with those terms.....

Agree with you, there is another option which is "Page Source" that also tell us about the page title !

Title is the essence of every article. It should be selected very carefully to get high rank.
