Paid Search Result - When an individual types in the search term, you will first see 3 to 4 paid ads displayed under caption "ad" are known as paid search and the website owners pay to get their web pages display when a certain set of keywords are used by the searcher.

A type of contextual advertising where Web site owners pay an advertising fee, usually based on click-throughs or ad views to have their Web site search results shown in top placement on search engine result pages. Some search engines will make it easy for users to determine which search results are natural and which are paid, while others will mix the results making it more difficult for users to determine which are the paid search results. Also called sponsored search.

If you have a paid ads like (Google Adword, Facebook ads, etc.) you will see you paid result on the upper part of search engine listing, but sometime its on the right side.

However, many associate the term paid search with pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, a specific kind of business relationship where advertisers pay search engines or other Web hosts when ads are clicked, which gives the host entity incentive to display the ads as search results.

Paid results are basically advertisements - the website owners have paid their web pages to display for certain keywords, so these listings show up when someone runs a search query containing those keywords.

Also called "natural" search results, ranking high in the organic results is what SEO is all about.
