Actually, the cross linking is the method of getting two or more sites linked with each other. In some cases, they both the sites are owned by the same person. The intention of doing this is just getting links from the inter-connected sites and thus increasing the link popularity and pagerank. But as far as I know Google can give red signal this method because this does not seem to be natural.

Cross linking refers to the process of linking between two sites over the internet.  They are owned by the person weather it is happening form same person or not. It allows users to reference sites with content similar to that which they are already viewing, and may be of further interest to them.

Cross-links are bonds that link one polymer chain to another. They can be covalent bonds or ionic bonds. "Polymer chains" can refer to synthetic polymers or natural polymers (such as proteins). When the term "cross-linking" is used in the synthetic polymer science field, it usually refers to the use of cross-links to promote a difference in the polymers' physical properties. When "crosslinking" is used in the biological field, it refers to the use of a probe to link proteins together to check for protein–protein interactions, as well as other creative cross-linking methodologies. :)

Cross linking refers to the process of linking between two sites. Whether or not they are owned by the same person. We should take care of many thing when we use cross linking -
1)We should not link several sites to each other otherwise search engine will penalize it.
2)Donot use cross linking on every page.
3)Host the different two sites with different IPs.
4)Use anchor text for Cross Linking...
Thnx..:)

Hi everyone,
Cross linking can be defined as interlinking between two websites to get backlinks from each other and get higher ranking in major search engines. It can be created in form of anchor texts. Reciprocal linking is an effective way of cross linking

Cross Linking is the art of creating links within a website. In a very traditional layout you might have a home page and then to other pages (page A and page B). The home page would contain links to both.
