According to me difference between home page and inner pages is that each page have their own keywords and also Mata tags and description, In home page there are all links available of each and every inner page and inner page is related to specific keyword and also detail for one keyword information.
The home page is fun and exciting but it is viewed for less than seconds, while inner page contains the real content.
Home page is the landing page of your website. and inner pages are the others page of that website.
Home page is more important to Search engine, the inner page is more partial to visitors.
