When I'm targeting a new keyword one thing that I want to know is how much traffic is it going to bring me.

Of course the only way to know for sure is to actually get that number 1 ranking and see for myself but I always like to guesstimate before I get started to give myself an idea about what sort of traffic numbers I'm going to get.

To get good ranking in Google you should try to get good amount of backlinks as well as quality backlinks for your website because Google bot concern with your backlinks amount. It's a general question now a days whenever someone ask to me how can i improve my search engine ranking i just say to practice with Article writing, Press release, social bookmarking, directory submission because these are the normal strategies that you can use to improve your rankings as well as traffic on your websites.

Mainly its depend on keyword search volume and competition and other factors like site age, backlinks, content. If keyword had low search volume and less competition it easily ranked on first position. If you try to rank the one word or say short tail keyword it becomes hard. It requires lot of efforts.
