There are a lot of ways to get traffic for a website like link exchange, directory submission, article submission, RSS submission, Press release submission etc. I want to know your views about what are the best ways to get quick and a lot of traffic to a website or waht are the most effective way to increase number of visitors to your site.

I don't think there is a right answer to this without knowing what you are trying to get traffic to. Is it a mass market product that had competition and people are going to search for? Is it a unique product that is going to have good buzz? Is it a personal blog? If so does it have compelling content? Is it a photographic portfolio? Are the photos compelling?

As per my seo experience social networking promotion give you quick traffic.But for conversion rate is too low.For generating business you have to apply all so techniques and you have to reach in at least in first page.

Do  black hat SEO, you can get quick traffic bu you will be sorry if you been banned. I think there is no easy way to get tons of traffic.
