Hello friends,
What is a domain extension?
Domain extensions (or Top Level Domains/TLDs) are the suffixes or the last part of any website domain name - these letters are types after the dot to the right of any domain name.
The Domain Name System (DNS) was invented in 1983. This system allowed a name to be attached to the numeric IP address, meaning that instead of a long string of numbers like 79.170.40.2, a specific place on the internet could be identified by a name, like 'baloogi.com' – much easier to remember!
In 1984, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) established the first six domain extensions:
.com | .edu | .gov | .mil | .org | .net
Shortly afterwards, the first two-character country code extensions (like .uk and .us) were established
Domain extension refers to the notation found at the end of web addresses. The extension is used to specify a country code or any web category. For example, .edu is a domain extension to specify educational institution as the web category.
A top-level domain and sometimes called an extension or domain suffix, a domain name or IP address, and optional subdomain. The combination of only the domain name and top-level domain is known as a root domain.
Domain extensions, also known as Top Level Domains or TLDs, are the suffixes or the last part of a domain name - the letters that come after the dot to the right of any domain name.
Domain extension is the information at the last part of a web address that specifies an Internet category or a country code. In this, his domains extensions are putted over the right side of the url after the dot. They can be used for all such organization, like educational, research, business, etc.
