SEM, or Search Engine Marketing, is a wider activity than just SEO. Search Engine Marketing actually can include SEO, but more commonly has Paid Ads as its primary focus.
PPC is an Internet marketing formula used to price online advertisements.

SEM stands for search engine marketing and it is wide and something more than SEO. SEO is the part of SEM. And in SEM both type of advertising is count either it is paid or organic.

SEM stands for search engine marketing. ... The main difference between SEM and PPC is that the former is meant for marketing on search engines only, whereas latter can be search, display (cpc based), affiliate advertising. The only thing common here is that you will be charged only when someone clicks on your ad.

SEM stands for search engine marketing. It is the process of promoting your website in various search engines to build its popularity and reputation. Search engine optimization and social media optimization are two major processes used for search engine marketing.

PPC stands for pay-per-click, a model of internet marketing in which advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Essentially, it's a way of buying visits to your site, rather than attempting to "earn" those visits organically. Search engine advertising is one of the most popular forms of PPC.
