I just downloaded Website Analyzer onto our testing and development network and I cannot get this thing to recognize any Internet sites. I expect there are probably firewall and proxy setting issues, however I have a couple of questions before I even deal with our network folks.
1 - When I try to scan a site it immediately stops and gives me a response code of "rcCommErrorSocket -10". I checked the help and there is a list of error codes to explain the details, but it's not much of an explanation... "Possible reasons:  The server/domain of the URL did not exist. " From that terse statement I assume that means a firewall or proxy issue? I have no idea what I need to do to get this thing working.... help!?!?!
2 - If my suspicion is correct on item 1, then how come the output has the correct info in the "View file" tab and it also correctly runs the W3C HTML and CSS validators? It obviously sees the correct page, but it can't analyze it. How come?

Try change
Scan website | Crawler engine | Default path type and handler

to
HTTP using WinInet engine and settings (Internet Explorer)

It often gets through such problems since it's already configured for the system (and many firewalls also accept WinInet requests) wich also explains why it works for you when using the embedded IE browser.

If you don't see the option, switch off "easy mode":
