Google Webmaster Tools is a great place to start once looking for 404 errors together on and off your website. Simply navigate to Google Webmaster Tools, choice your website and click Crawl Errors in the left navigation.
Google permits you to download a list of your 404 error pages in CSV format or through Google Docs.
A 404 error page looks to be the best choice if the page has been deleted permanently. That is, after all, what the code was generated for.
If you are taking a Word Press Website there are several plugins offered to take care of 404 errors.

Dealing with Not Found pages we create Custom 404 page. But when custom 404 start to show 200 error it is called soft 404 pages.
It is very easy to deal with this issues by creating again custom 404 page and a developer can do it easily.

A Soft 404 occurs when the server returns a successful response code (200), but Google, Bing, or some other service determines that the reply doesn't contain the expected content.Soft 404 errors, like hard 404 errors, can harm your SEO ranking.  Search engines don't like to discover that they've indexed and linked to content that no longer exists.
