The HTTP response status code 301 Moved Permanently is used for permanent redirecting, meaning current links or records using the URL this response is received for should be updated. The new URL should be provided in the Location field included with the response.

Hi Friends,

If you need to change the URL of a page as it is shown in search engine results, we recommend that you use a server-side 301 redirect. This is the best way to ensure that users and search engines are directed to the correct page. The 301 status code means that a page has permanently moved to a new location.

Redirects are simple. If you%u2019re transferring content from old to a new location permanently, use a 301 redirect. If you%u2019re moving it temporarily, use a 302 redirect.

301 redirect: A 301 redirect tells search engines to content permanently moved and consolidates the old URL with the new URL. This%u2019ll carry over its value (and often its rankings too).
302 redirect: A 302 redirect tells search engines content has temporarily moved and DOES NOT consolidate the old URL with the new URL. The old URL will remain in the index and will still be able to rank as it did before.

Here are a few common use cases:

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect that passes full link equity (ranking power) to the redirected page. 301 refers to the HTTP status code for this type of redirect. In most instances, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.

A 301 signals a permanent redirect from one URL to another, meaning all users that request an old URL will be automatically sent to a new URL.

You can begin using our Google Index Checker Tool by accessing it from the Website Tracking section of the free tools. After opening the tool, you need to enter the URL of which you want to check the Google Indexation status and click on 'Check Site Index'.
