Content: focus more on content. To highlight the most important content put icons with header text. Use light backgrounds so it's easy for the user to differentiate content elements. Instead of removing large section of content, just break it into small sections.

Branding: Despite the lack of property on mobile phone devices you cannot forget to regularly brand your web design.  For mobile website it's essential to show elements properly. Mobile website doesn't have a title and URL bar. The absence of the title and URL bar on mobile website makes branding your design more essential because the user does not have the comfort to simply look up and see where they are.
