Wordpress all the way! There are so many unique modules and plugins that offer great customizable features.
Joomla is far to complex for nothing, but I'm bias since I can't really build a site in a day in Joomla.
As per my personal experience wordpress is the best option for you to design valuable website for blogs. You have flexibility to use wordpress plugins and themes also which makes your blog more attractive and easy to access.
Better to prefer the Wordpress. It is easiest to get develop the website as compared to other Content management system. It also helpful to get mobile user friendly website too. It depends on the style css that you are going to use it.
Both Wordpress and Joomla are powerful content management system. Wordpress is easier to set up and install on the site. You will get wider selection and plug-in browser's ability in Wordpress. Setup and configuration is quite simple on Wordpress website. While Joomla, on the other hand, takes a bit of setup and adjustment. To edit and modify templates in Joomla is quite difficult. From the SEO point of view, doing SEO of Wordpress site is easy compared to Joomla, you can say that Joomla is not an SEO-friendly CMS. Creating a website with Wordpress you don't need to have advanced technical knowledge. In the case of Joomla, without having enough technical knowledge you can't work effectively. In my opinion, if you have advanced technical knowledge and you are going to develop a heavy website which requires higher security and looks you can go with Joomla. But, if you are developing a small website or blog then you can go with Wordpress.

Word press and Joomla both are different futures Pick WordPress to make news sites, blogs and any other site where you have to update content regularly and in other hand select Joomla for any type of project. If we figure out in terms of plugging and extension both are comparatively similar but when viewed in detail, these extensions are different in nature.
