Does the Duolingo test pattern favor native English speakers?

While the Duolingo exam pattern is designed to assess proficiency regardless of a test-taker's background, native English speakers may find certain parts easier due to natural familiarity with language structure and vocabulary. However, the adaptive nature of the Duolingo exam pattern (https://www.gradding.com/blog/duolingo/exam-pattern) levels the playing field by adjusting question difficulty based on responses. This means non-native speakers who are well-prepared can achieve competitive scores. The test doesn't rely on culturally biased content, which further supports fairness. Moreover, since it focuses on communication ability in academic and everyday settings, non-native speakers who consistently practice speaking, reading, and writing in English can excel. Overall, the Duolingo exam pattern aims for inclusivity and provides equal opportunity for all candidates.
