That depends entirely upon whether the engines can refrain from making themselves totally biased towards proprietary content and favored brands. If they can solve the puzzle of reducing actual "gaming" the system without creating impossible to be scaled walled gardens. If the engines can remain a fairly democratic space, then the future of SEO/SEM is huge. If not, SEO/SEM practitioners will become lobbyists.

SEO is a constantly changing and growing industry. No longer is search engine optimization seen as internet "black magic," but it is now regarded as an essential part of any serious digital marketing strategy.
