What is the formula to calculate velocity?

Speed is calculated by dividing the distance traveled by time. It does not have direction. Average velocity is the displacement (change in position) divided by time.

Link velocity is the rate at which others are linking to your site. Put in another way, it is the rate at which your backlink profile is growing over time. Building quality backlinks should be the main priority, not achieving a high link velocity.
