Is Solar Heating For You?

How does solar heating work?

Solar heating systems work by using a solar collector. A solar collector is filled with a conductive liquid or oil that gets heated by the sunlight. The solar collector can heat water directly or use a "working" liquid to transfer that heat to water. In active solar heating systems, there is a pumping mechanism that moves the heat through a building. In passive heating systems however, the heated water moves by natural convection currents in the water. In most cases, in buildings the solar heat systems work in tandem with electric heating or conventional gas heating systems. The conventional systems operate to make positive that there is adequate heating happening in times when there is tiny sunlight to heat the solar collectors or in times when there is no solar thermal storage unit. Solar thermal storage units are a effective way to store heat, much like the way a battery stores electricity from solar panels.

Are there disadvantages to using solar heating?

The main detractor of buying a solar heat process is the preliminary cost. Solar heater systems, although they have dropped in cost substantially still show pricey to plenty of people. The nice news is in case you think of solar heating as an investment in your household, the process pays for itself over its lifetime of 15 to 30 years. It can also add to the resale value of your property.

In case you use solar panels together with your electric heating process, you will gain even more cost saving benefits. Again, there is an preliminary cost for solar panels, but in case you are thinking long term this is an excellent investment. You will be saving on every month electricity costs as well as helping the environment. Its a win win situation.

Yes, the advantages and disadvantages of solar heating is clearly explained in this topic. And, I also agree with the fact that solar energy is the best source of energy to save electricity, our nature as well as our money on electricity bills.

Although the advantages of solar heating are big, the installation of this system will require much time and effort. Moreover, I don't believe that it is so effective.  :)

Solar Heating is the best way to conserve energy. I agree that the initial set up cost is high but the long term advantages that it can give is tremendous. The government should take the necessary steps in the basic set up of solar panels to help utilize the abundant source of energy that comes free to all of us, the Sunlight.  :D
