You can take keyword, Which is related to your site theme. It should be targeted to your business. It does not matter it is Long tail or short tail.

I advice to target keyword which is directly targeted to your business. Targeted keyword drives targeted traffic which increase business as well as conversion rate.

From my point of view, It is advisable to use long tail keywords for newly launched website for few months before targeting short tail keywords.
