Hi again. I have one more question.

Every image is in two articles. One in englsh and 1 in greek.

What should I do in this situation? How can I determine if I want them in both articles in sitemap, or in one of them? Which is the right solution?

Hi,

Assuming you ahve all articles in both languages... I would probably split it into two scans:

(If your sitte has a more complicated URL system, you can also look into using "analysis" and "outtput" filters to control the crawl and output very precisely of each scan)

I would then submit an image sitemap for both. To be honest though, I am not 100% sure what Google would prefer... And even if I did, I would not be sure it would still be what they would preger the next month :)

Thank for the answer.

Yes all the articles are in both languages

I did tried the above but it cannot crawl the images. I have erased disallow media in robots as well but after several scans I didn't have any image in the results.

Should I add somewhere a link especially for the images?

My guess is that you only used "Google image sitemap" and not the "Google image sitemap (website has images hosted externally)" configuration preset (which sets various options)

The reason being the moment you set root patth to e.g. example.com/en/ then anything not located in that folder (e.g. example.com/images/") is considered outside "root"

At least I just create what I *think* is a proper image sitemap for your Greek version of the site :)

Thank yu very much for your valuable time.

Yes I tried the second option but it takes images from k2 temporary folder and other temprary folders..

I mostly want to solve the issue with the encoding problem.

Did you really created a map for me. this would be awesome. My mail is konpatsogiannis (at) yahoo.gr

Just exclude those folders in "Output filters". See these two help entries:

I will give some more tries. The thing is that this way takes images from cache which are non seo friendly.

I will try some more times with different option and I will rebrief!! :) :)

I have now emailed you a new project file which:

  • uses the image preset that allows externally hosted images
  • uses root http://www.inthessaloniki.com/
  • limits "analysis" to page URLs in "el/" directtory
  • Adds additional search path http://www.inthessaloniki.com/el/
  • excludes k2 and cache image folders in directory "output"

Actually it appears this email bounced - you may want to email me back from another email address (but I will try email it again)

Ok. This was the solution!
I manage to make the perfect sitemap. At least for the english websites

inthessaloniki.com/sitemap-en-image.xml

One issue more.

When I submited it in webmaster tools it automatically added the links (as a number) in the already submited map.

Having in mind that almost all the pages have images, same links are in sitemap.xml and sitemap-en-image.xml
Is this a problem for google?

In short: Not a problem at all :)

(I hope you check the other thread as well if you continue to have problems with the Greek version since that should work perfectly as well without any problems.)
